SEOUL  Matt Wieters Nationals Jersey , April 18 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's automobile exports rose for two months in a row despite weak demand in the domestic market, a government report showed on Tuesday.

Auto exports gained 4.1 percent from a year earlier to 4.12 billion U.S. dollars in March, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The number of cars exported in March declined 5.1 percent to 248,618 units  Matt Adams Nationals Jersey , but strong demand for large-sized, premium cars boosted the value of car exports.

Car sales in the local market declined 2.9 percent over the year to 168,990 units in March. Imported car sales here tumbled 10.8 percent, while sales of cars, made by local automakers  Kevin Long Nationals Jersey , shed 1.4 percent.

Auto production declined 2.7 percent to 406,897 units last month.

Auto parts exports fell 3.4 percent to 2.2 billion dollars as local automakers reduced production in overseas plants.

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday he was "deeply concerned" about the rape of an elderly nun and the demolition of a church as protests for the better protection of women and religious minorities erupted across the country.

Modi has asked for an immediate report on the violence on the weekend, according to a statement. There were angry scenes in parliament as legislators demanded to know why the man accused of rape had not been arrested.

Over the last few months, Modi has been criticised for being slow to condemn a series of attacks on Christian institutions, fuelling concern his Hindu nationalist government is failing to rein in Hindu zealots.

Outrage over the rape of the nun has reignited an angry debate about the safety of women.

Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in West Bengal on Monday evening with the disturbance blocking the convoy of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for almost an hour.

Banerjee, a self-styled champion of the poor, was prevented from travelling along a motorway after she visited the nun in hospital. The crowd surrounded her car with protesters demanding to know why the man suspected of raping the nun had not been caught.

Police detained nine men after the attack on the 75-year-old nun in a convent school but no arrests have been made. A group of men broke into the school and stole some items. One of them then raped the nun.

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Monday it is necessary to seek the opinion of members of the Parliament on dialogue with the Taliban insurgents who are blamed for attacks in the country.

The prime minister made the remarks at a meeting of Parliament members of his Pakistan Muslim League party in Islamabad to discuss security situation and other national issues, including the option on whether or not to launch a major offensive against the Taliban.

The meeting could not take a final decision as the members were divided on the Taliban talks, with the majority favoring an operation against the armed group while some insisting on dialogue.

"We are going through an extraordinary situation, and this situation demands tough decisions  Gio Gonzalez Nationals Jersey ," the prime minister told the meeting.

The meeting was called following intensification of attacks by the Taliban in recent days as the government is under pressure to start operation against the militants in their last stronghold of North Waziristan.

"Without eliminating terrorism and extremism we cannot place Pakistan on fast track of development. We will take every step to bring peace and stability in country. Officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces laying down their lives are our heroes and their blood will not go in vain," a statement from the prime minister's office quoted Nawaz Sharif as telling the lawmakers.

Opposition members of the parliament also met in Islamabad on Monday and demanded the government to give a statement about policy on the Taliban in the Parliament.

Leader of the opposition, Khurshid Shah, told the meeting the prime minister should explain the government policy no matter it wants talks with or operation against the Taliban.

"If the prime minister did not come to the Parliament and take the MPs into confidence, it would amount to a non-serious approach to an important issue  Daniel Murphy Nationals Jersey ," he said.

The Taliban have repeatedly offered dialogue, but some government ministers have questioned the Taliban offer, saying that they on the one hand have continued attacks while on the other are seeking peace talks.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was quoted as saying that the government cannot trust the Taliban following their recent attacks which killed dozens of security personnel and civilians.

The National Assembly, or Lower House of the Parliament, started Monday evening to discuss the security situation and whether the government should pursue dialogue with the Taliban or launch an offensive.
