John Elway's much-celebrated 2018 draft class is turning heads at the Broncos' training camp Kyle Williams Jersey , particularly ex-SMU receiver Courtland Sutton, a second-round pick whose spectacular catches have become a daily occurrence.

Big applauses also greet draft picks Bradley Chubb, Josey Jewell and DaeSean Hamilton along with another rookie who went undrafted.

Phillip Lindsay , a 5-foot-8, 180-pound running back who was born in Denver, grew up in adjacent Aurora, attended Denver South High School and the University of Colorado and is drawing praises from coaches and teammates.

"No. 2 has shown explosion," coach Vance Joseph said, referring to the rookie by his jersey number.

"He's a shifty little back," said linebacker Todd Davis. "He can definitely make people miss."

"We're definitely going to have some things planned for Phillip," predicted Von Miller, who sees Lindsay carving a niche in a diverse backfield that includes veteran Devontae Booker, second-year speedster De'Angelo Henderson and rookie draft picks Royce Freeman of Oregon and David Williams of Arkansas.

Lindsay is leading the way in plays that draw reactions from the crowd.

"Guys like that in the league, you just can't cover them," Miller said. "They're just assets to the offense. You have to have a back like that and we definitely have one."

Uninvited to the NFL combine and bypassed on draft weekend Carlos Dunlap Jerse , Lindsay signed a contract with his hometown team that would pay him $480,000 this season and included a $15,000 signing bonus.

By comparison, Freeman's signing bonus was $997,020 and Williams' was $93,900.

A Colorado alum himself, Joseph was no stranger to Lindsay's talents.

"It's hard to believe he didn't go to the combine," Joseph said. "Obviously he's a Buff, so I've watched Phillip for three years as a starter in a major conference. He was a great player. We were all surprised he didn't go to the combine, and obviously signing him as a free agent was tough because we drafted two backs. We pursued him heavy and he stayed home."

Lindsay's college coach, Mike MacIntyre, said he has no doubt his former pupil will make it in the NFL because of his versatility, tenacity and willingness to make the most of any morsel of playing time he gets.

"In college he covered kicks, returned kicks, he could play on all four big phases Russell Bodine Jersey ," MacIntyre said. "And then he's a guy that can catch the ball really well, so he could be a third-down back. He's a guy that could block well, could run well, so when you take him to the game, even if he doesn't play a lot of running back early, he's going to play a lot of plays for you. So he's valuable for you as a coaching staff and a team.

"He'll be the special team coaches' dream, I promise you that."

MacIntyre got that right.

"I love Phillip," Broncos special teams coordinator Tom McMahon declared. "Phillip works his butt off."

He garnered the nickname "Tasmanian Devil" in college because of the frenetic energy he brings to the team as the undersized underdog he's been all his life.

"I always bring a chip on my shoulder, not because I'm mad but because I know what I have to do," Lindsay said. "For me, I'm a running back that's 5-8 and 190 pounds and I have to go and get my respect for the NFL now."

It's nothing new.

"I mean, since when have I not been the underdog?" Lindsay said.

NOTES: In honor of owner Pat Bowlen and his wife, Annabel, both of whom are fighting Alzheimer's, the Broncos handed out purple towels to their fans and wore purple-and-gray T-shirts Saturday to raise funds and awareness of the disease. ... The Broncos will hold a 45-play scrimmage Sunday.

Connor Hellebuyck was proud to know a list of NHL records will now include his name.

Andrew Copp scored twice and Hellebuyck set an NHL record for most wins in a season by an American goaltender as the Winnipeg Jets beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old Commerce Dennis Smith Jersey , Michigan, goalie made 30 saves to pick up his 44th win (44-11-9), surpassing Tom Barrasso's 1992-93 run with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"To be in the history books is something that I'm always going to look back and be proud of," Hellebuyck said. "The fact that this locker room has come together, playing the way we're playing, now the city is behind us the way they are, it's a fun time being in Winnipeg."

Hellebuyck also tied the NHL record for most wins at home by a goaltender in a single season with 30. Wayne Stephenson of the 1975-76 Philadelphia Flyers had the same mark.

The victims and survivors of the fatal bus accident Friday involving Saskatchewan's Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team were honored before the game.

Standing together in a circle at center ice, Jets and Blackhawks players wore jerseys with the word "BRONCOS" on the back of them in place of their own names as there was a moment of silence and then the anthems.

"It was a very somber mood on the ice, kind of one of those things where it could have been any one of us," Copp said.

"You kind of count your blessings. You kind of look to the guy to your left and right, they're not usual teammates or brothers, but you feel that sense of camaraderie and community with them."

Dustin Byfuglien and Kyle Connor also scored for the Jets (52-20-10), who have won five straight and a franchise-record nine in a row at Bell MTS Place.

Winnipeg opens the NHL playoffs next week at home against the Minnesota Wild.

Jeff Glass stopped 35 shots for the Blackhawks (33-39-10), who didn't make the playoffs for the first time since 2007-08.

Brent Seabrook scored Chicago's goal.

"I've said (to the media) a million times, I think it's the best part of the season coming up here." Seabrook said. "To not be a part of it Ian Thomas Jersey , not playing any meaningful games for us down the stretch, it's been tough."

Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp got a standing ovation in the third period after the announcer told the crowd the 36-year-old is retiring after 14 NHL seasons, 11 with Chicago.

"Being born in Winnipeg and then hearing the ovation from the crowd, seeing the other team tap their sticks and clap their hands, that hit hard and I'm just thankful for it, grateful for it," Sharp said.

Winnipeg had mounted a 4-0 lead by early in the second period.

Byfuglien began the run when he scored 13 seconds into a two-man advantage with a high blast from the point at 15:12 of the first period.

Connor beat Glass on a breakaway 34 seconds into the second. It was his 31st goal of the season, which leads all NHL rookies.

Copp put in his eighth and ninth of the season, the second a short-handed goal, to make it 4-0 at 6:35.

Seabrook stopped the shutout with a screened shot at 9:08 of the second.

The Jets, who relocated from Atlanta in 2011, also set franchise records for wins (52), points (114) and home wins (21).
